The left-shot winger is reasonably fast, with 90 acceleration and 89 speed, and has good offensive awareness with a rating of 90.
However, the point of playing Pavelski is to spot him open, pass him the puck, and then let his 95 slap shot accuracy, 94 slap shot power, 95 wrist shot accuracy, and 94 wrist shot power do the rest. Still, taking Spencer Downie in the second round of this simulation was a wise move, with him rapidly developing into a netminder capable of contending in the NHL. But times are changing, and the Big Leagues are desperately promoting speed and skill, two things Makar has in spades. Klim Kostin was a favorite player of mine in the preseason, but his draft year was as incomplete as they come. He followed up a dominant Ivan Hlinka tournament with a promotion to the KHL — a rarity for pre-draft teenagers. Stuck in a depth role that saw him play under 10 minutes a game, Kostin was demoted to a lower league before shutting his season down with a shoulder injury.
The rankings I began compiling as far back as August are not intended to be a blueprint for how the draft unfolds when it begins in Chicago on June 23rd. Makar also led his team in scoring as a defenseman in 2018-19 and would go on to win the Hobey Baker award, the first in the history for the school. Makar had a more than unique breakout with the Avs as he was called up to play for the team in the 2018-19 playoffs, where he adapted almost immediately, registering a goal and six points in 10 playoff games, cementing himself undoubtedly into the Avalanche roster for years to come. This season for Colorado, Makar was arguably the top candidate for the Calder Memorial Trophy, having racked up 12 goals and 50 points in just 57 games played. Makar was essentially a human highlight reel in 2019-20. With the fifth pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Vancouver Canucks were fortunate enough to be able to draft arguably the best of the top 5 in Elias Pettersson. While playing a season for Vaxjo HC of the SHL, Petterson lead the league in scoring with 56 points in just 44 games played among men as a 19 year old.

Клим Костин 31-й номер драфта , Александр Волков 48-й , Андрей Алтыбармакян 70-й и Алексей Липанов 76-й до сегодняшнего дня строили свою карьеру преимущественно на просторах МХЛ и ВХЛ, но этот факт их возможных будущих работодателей не отпугнул. А вот россияне, в резюме которых уже значился определенный североамериканский опыт, были выбраны на этом драфте значительно позже. Получается, если в мае 2015-го отъезд в юниорские лиги Канады сборников Соколова и Жукенова большинство все-таки поддерживало, то сегодня подобное решение выглядит совсем не однозначно, даже в ракурсе дальнейших перспектив в НХЛ.

In the offensive zone, he is one of the most dangerous players in the league, with an incredibly powerful and accurate release — all the more impressive considering how lanky is. He produces highlight-reel plays night in, night out, with tremendous hands in tight. In his own zone, he is efficient at breaking up play with an active stick. Projected as a second-line centre, Pettersson could end up being one of the best middle-men in the league very soon. His incredible mobility combined with some of the best hands and shot in the league makes him a threat from anywhere on the ice.
Whereas Makar usually creates offence rushing full-speed at defenders, Heiskanen is much more subtle. He scans the zone from the point and makes little feints before finding his target. He is every bit as good a skater as Makar and his zone entry and exit numbers are also elite. Heiskanen is significantly better defensively, playing 25-plus minutes in both of his playoff campaigns.
He is incredibly efficient at stunting offense with his body and stick. The Stars will be content having picked Heiskanen third. He is a terrific playmaker — he ranked 10th in assists-per-60 last season — and his tireless work ethic makes him difficult to play against. He never stops competing, winning pucks and generating chances for his teammates.
He has shown some flair this season, too. Passing by Robert Thomas has been so nice this season pic. He has an elusive release and picks corners with ease. He should feast on weak matchups as a second-line center this year.
In his final year of junior, he carried the Guelph Storm to the Memorial Cup with 42 points in 24 playoff games. In the NHL, he has continued to produce at an impressive rate and has shown he can run a powerplay.
