Разработчики тайтла GSC Game World ранее заявляли, что игра выйдет в 2023 году без уточнения даты выхода. Ролик получил название «Иди ко мне», его продолжительность составляет 2 минуты 30 секунд. В трейлере GSC Game World показаны несколько катсцен и геймплей, включая многочисленную стрельбу из нескольких видов оружия против людей и монстров Зоны. Также в ролике показаны несколько локаций и рассказано про то, что группа учёных подключилась к Ноосфере информационному полю Земли , что было сопоставимо с покорением космоса.
Спустя десятилетия Зона изменилась и стала ещё опасней. Аномалии, монстры, псы, сталкеры и группировки там остались. В очень коротком ролике главный герой игры Скиф бросает болт в аномалию, которая начинает реагировать на ситуацию.
Далее сцены сменяются военными кадрами, которые сопровождаются текстом: «Предыдущая неделя была давным-давно. Наша страна снова вынуждена бороться за свое существование. Похоже, это цена свободы. Разработка игры отошла на второй план.
Разработчики утверждают, что игра представляет собой уникальное сочетание шутера от первого лица, иммерсивного геймплея и хоррора. Полная радиации, мутантов и аномалий, она продолжает привлекать искателей приключений издалека. Охотники за наградами углубляются в Зону в поисках сокровищ и тайн.
Во время сопровождения учёных в Зоне его настигает выброс. Но наёмника спасает группировка «Чистое Небо», занимающаяся исследованием и изучением природы Зоны. Как и предыдущая игра, «Чистое небо» пострадала от сжатых сроков разработки, вследствие чего под нож пошли некоторые локации. Кроме того, за неделю до релиза готовый билд шутера был слит в интернет, а релизная версия изобиловала багами, а справиться с игрой на максимальных настройках графики могли очень немногие ПК того времени.
Авторам пришлось срочно выпускать патчи и исправлять ошибки. Посвящено оно отчаянным попыткам сталкеров прорваться к центру Зоны после того, как в конце сюжета «Чистого неба» был отключен «Выжигатель Мозгов». Игрок выступает в качестве опытного военного сталкера Александра Дегтярева, которого украинское правительство отправляет в центр на поиски пропавшей первой группы военных, в состав которой входило 5 разведывательных вертолетов.
