Прототипом Холмса считается доктор Джозеф Белл Dr. Joseph Bell , сослуживец Дойла, с которым они вместе работали в Эдинбургском королевском госпитале. Джеймс Мориарти — главный антагонист Шерлока Холмса, он представляет мощную криминальную организацию, пожалуй, он такой же гений, как и великий сыщик, только прикладывает свой талант в сфере криминальных интересов. Профессор Мориарти очень умен, он носит степень профессора математических наук, да и вообще наделен недюжинными математическими способностями.

Сам же Чейз оказывается настоящим Мориарти. Интересный факт — в 2016 году вышла манга «Патриотизм Мориарти», рассказывающая о жизни братьев Мориарти до их встречи с Шерлоком Холмсом. Итак, Шерлок Холмс встречается с профессором Мориарти у Рейхенбахского водопада, в финале они падают с обрыва.

В одной из серии мы видим как Мориарти без проблем обвел Майкрофта вокруг пальцев выведав всю информацию о Шерлоке 2 сезон 3 серия. Мориарти вполне мог и в этот раз каким то образом шантажировать Майкрофта и заставить его внушить Шерлоку, что у него была сестра. Я еще в прошлой своей теории говорил что Мориарти очень глупо было себя убивать.
Да, он псих, но не дурак и уж точно не хотел умереть. Но ведь ему попала пуля в голову, как он после такого мог выжить? Нуу, сериал сам в своем спецвыпуске показал на примере кровавой невесты как это можно легко провернуть. Мориарти мог воспользоваться этим методом или придумать что-то получше, ведь он лучший ум планеты как-никак Мориарти Мориарти Но тогда к чему весь этот цирк? Мориарти понял, что Шерлок перешел ему дорогу и хотел изящно от него избавиться 2 сезон 3 серия , однако он понял что Шерлоку удастся выбрать. Тогда он решил сымитировать свою смерть, чтобы Шерлок, британское правительство, MI6 отстало от него. Однако его желание "поиграть" с Шерлоком было велико и порой он подбрасывал Шерлоку своих марионеток Магнусона, Калвертона Смита и Эвер.
