The technical demands on the pianist are not excessive, but there are some rapidly repeating thirds in the right hand that are a challenge to play in tempo with the lightness of touch needed. Material from the opening section returns briefly, and the music shifts to E minor for an ending in thundering alternating octaves.
Mendelssohn also employed this procedure in several other works, including Piano Concertos Nos. The Presto leggiero that comes next explores closely related keys G and E majors before returning to E minor, its home key. Fortissimo plunging octaves, flashy arpeggios at an ever quickening pace, fast oscillating parallel thirds, and chromatic scales infuse this vigorous section, requiring decent techniques from the performer. An appropriate historical instrument for Rondo capriccioso would be the 1830s Broadwood piano. It has certain advantages over the modern piano, especially its light touch and shallow fall of key which are ideal for pianists to play rapidly and crisply. Some pianists also find the vast differences in tone colour among the bass, middle, and treble registers attractive.

Material from the opening section returns briefly, and the music shifts to E minor for an ending in thundering alternating octaves. The entire piece lasts a little over six minutes, and was popular throughout the 19th century.
A climatic return to E major gives way to an aura of mystery as diminished seventh chords slowly darken the whole scene with the hues of the minor mode. Following a close on the dominant of E, the Presto, and the Rondo proper, launches forthwith. It is followed by a wholly Romantic tune in G major, serving as the first episode. The prior G major melody reappears first, accompanying also a return to the key of E major. However, the reprise of the sprightly first theme brings with it the minor mode. Finally, a stormy passage in octaves, marked fortissimo, announces the end of the piece.
While some may be gifted musicians, their results can be poor when they try to implement Taubman work without being thoroughly trained. In some cases, the results have been detrimental to the students. Occasionally, teachers with this type of limited background combine Taubman concepts with other pedagogical approaches and different types of body work. These may bear a superficial resemblance to Taubman work, but they are not recommended by the Golandsky Institute, because they fundamentally alter the nature of the Taubman Approach. The pedagogy of the Taubman Approach is highly specialized. Currently, successful instructors have rigorous, on-going training in order to be able to diagnose and solve problems effectively. The Institute will be happy to recommend qualified teachers or clinicians, as well as to offer an assessment of anyone who claims to be teaching the Taubman Approach. The result of that investigation has produced a body of knowledge that can lead to an effortless and brilliant technique. It can also prevent and cure fatigue, pain and other playing-related injuries. The Taubman Approach is a groundbreaking analysis of the mostly invisible motions that function underneath a virtuoso technique. The resulting knowledge makes it possible to help pianists overcome technical limitations as well as cure playing-related injuries. It is also the way that tone production and other components of expressive playing can be understood and taught. Edna Golandsky is the person with whom Dorothy Taubman worked most closely. In 1976 Ms. Golandsky conceived the idea of establishing an Institute where people could come together during the summer and pursue an intensive investigation of the Taubman Approach.
