Revit 2024 is here and is full of new features, bug fixes, and general updates that should be of interest to just about everyone who uses Revit.
New Features Autodesk Revit 2024
Once you have these quantities, you can create a detailed earthwork schedule. In version 11. Last but not least, we improved the performance of importing CAD attributes any of them into the corresponding, newly created Revit families, making it easier yet to move all relevant information into Revit. Изменяемые диалоговые окна Существует более 20 существующих диалоговых окон, которые были усовершенствованы для возможности изменения размера. Сортировка параметров проекта в свойствах Теперь параметры проекта сортируются в алфавитно-цифровом порядке в диалогах свойств экземпляра и типа. Параметры семейств не изменились по сравнению с предыдущим поведением. Архитектурная дисциплина Архитектурная дисциплина имеет несколько новых возможностей и порадует многих архитекторов и дизайнеров. Стиль представления «Текстуры» В Revit появился новый стиль представления под названием "Текстуры". Я был в бета-группе пользователей этого стиля. Он представляет собой нечто среднее между затененным и реалистичным. Он показывает текстуру внешнего вида объекта, но без глобального освещения, поэтому материалы имеют одинаковый цвет на всех поверхностях и под любым углом. Настройки солнца на ленте При выполнении исследования солнечной активности настройки солнца теперь представлены на ленте, как показано ниже. При нажатии на кнопку настройки солнца открывается традиционный диалог настройки солнца с теми же параметрами.

Инструменты для работы с генпланом Взглянув на вкладку "Формы и генплан" ниже, вы заметите, что многое изменилось. Отображение видов модели в «Диспетчере проектов», добавленных на лист В Revit 2023 в «Диспетчере проектов» теперь около каждого вида есть индикация того, добавлен он на лист или нет.

What's New in Revit 2024
Взаимодействие с видами и листами Теперь можно выделить в диспетчере несколько видов и спецификаций и сразу все перетащить на лист. Ревит их сам раскидает, потом нужно будет руками поправить и готово. Если вид размещён на листе, то можно нажать по нему правой кнопкой мыши в диспетчере и выбрать команду «Открыть лист» — Ревит откроет лист с этим видом. Альбомы цветов Раньше в Ревите были только палитры Пантон, а теперь их расширили и — самое приятное — добавили отдельную палитру, ну или альбом, для цветов по RAL.
Менять цвета и особенно создавать материалы будет проще. Не очень удобно сделали, я бы предпочёл, чтобы цвет не сразу применялся, а сначала выделялся в списке. Сортировка параметров проекта Раньше параметры проекта сортировались по времени их добавления в проект.
По факту это сортировка не по времени, а по ID параметров. Чем позже добавляете параметр, тем больший номер в ID он получит, вот и получается сортировка по времени. Теперь в свойствах типа и экземпляра эти параметры сортируются по имени в алфавитном порядке.
Очень хорошо. Высота областей видимости Когда-нибудь я разберусь с этим инструментом и напишу статью, но до версии 2024 высоту области видимости нужно было подбирать на 3Д-виде руками. Теперь можно вбить высоту в свойствах.
С одной стороны, отображаются текстуры, как на реалистичном виде, а с другой стороны, при этом нет освещения, как у заливки. В итоге получаем визуальный стиль, который симпатичнее заливки, но легче, чем реалистичный режим. Сравните сами 4 режима.
Переименовали «Шрифт заголовков» в «Текст заголовка». Самое дикое — «Прочее» перевели как «Другая». Экспорт типа данных «Типоразмер семейства» Раньше приходилось руками прописывать имя параметра, тип данных OTHER и значение, а теперь поправили, и параметр сам корректно выгружается из редактора.
Шаблоны семейств Они снова не устанавливаются вместе с Ревитом. Английские шаблоны — да, русские — нет. Где брать, пока не нашёл.
Новинки для инженеров Толщина стенки труб в Ревит 2024 Толщина стенки труб в Ревит 2024 Завезли новый параметр для труб с их толщиной стенки. Не сказать, что супер полезно, хотя в целом удобно. Скрытие изоляции вместе с трубой или воздуховодом Если выделить воздуховод или трубу с изоляцией и скрыть воздуховод или трубу, то вместе с ними скроется и их изоляция.
Скорее это удобно, чем излишне.
Again, in many other regions and countries, shape codes are always shown in the schedule regardless. In the example below, Bending Details are shown in the bending schedule with the new auto size option for rows with images. In the above image, the segment names are displayed to reduce the amount of space required but you can also configure the Bending Details specifically for use within schedules. Here in the UK, it would only be necessary to show the bending sketch for non-standard shapes so it would be useful to see a feature where you could control which shape codes use the new Bending Detail and display on the schedule. Again, this is the first iteration, and I am sure we will see other additions to this new feature in future releases. We will now look at a feature that was released in Revit 2023.
Whilst this is an amazingly simple tool it really makes a difference when working with rebar. In the example below we have a rebar set which is configured for the spacing and number of bars. If I add additional bars, they may end up on the wrong end of the rebar set. Another new tool in Revit 2024 allows us to control the alignment of freeform rebar when placing along a path. In previous releases, the rebar would stay aligned to the path, but we can now align the rebar vertically if required. An example of this is shown below with the curved wall with a tapering base. In this example, the rebar is aligned vertically but still runs along the path.
Analytical Modelling Updates Many of these updates happened in Revit 2023. Lat year we saw the introduction of an independent analytical model that could be managed and controlled separately from the physical model. To strengthen this workflow, we have some new tools to help with the definition of the analytical model. We can now create curved panels. The curved panel is then created. When defining the analytical model, previously you would need to manually associate this to its physical counterpart, but we now have a new assisted option. This is, of course, much more efficient and will eliminate mistakes.
The physical or analytical model can both be used to build the counterpart automatically. For example, if the engineer has started to build the analysis model in Revit, the technician can then use Dynamo Player to create the physical model based on the analytical model properties. Analytical Loads The loads in previous releases were split into two groups, we had hosted loads and non-hosted loads which could be point, line or area loads.

New visual style: Textures. This visual style displays material textures consistently, without lighting effects. Using this visual style you can easily test textures prior to rendering. These two commands, from the right-click menu, are related to views. They were introduced in Revit 2023. Drag multiple views to sheet. Place multiple views, legends and schedules on a sheet at once. The views will be placed in a grid format. Improved schedules. The row height is no more determined by the font size or by width of the image column. Now the font height is the minimal value instead of fixed value. Schedule revision clouds. Ability to create schedule that contains revision clouds provides a suitable way to track issues in your project. You can use Comments, Mark, and Revision parameters alongside with other groups of parameters that you can select in the upper drop-down menu of the Schedule Properties dialog. Apply revisions to multiple sheets. Improved Scope Boxes. Fixed issue related to display of 2D regions in 3D families. The display of 2D regions created in 3D families is consistent in family and project environment, vector and raster print. Also you can use draw order for the regions. Improved Dynamo 2. This menu makes it easier to create input nodes; it recommends nodes that you can use as inputs. Hardware acceleration for Dynamo.. It ensures better performance; you can find this option in the Preferences dialog, Visual Settings tab, and it is enabled by default.

I have also noticed that some of the browsers and dialogs are still using a white background, so, if you are using the system browser the dark theme will look a little odd. We have also gained a search function in the Project Browser which is incredibly useful, not just for searching views but also the loaded content. I can then just drag theses into the project to use them. This new visual style allows users to see textures without having to use the realistic mode which uses lighting and other settings. I quite like this new visual style; it works well and is significantly faster than realistic. Of course, you can also use this in plans, sections and elevation views for presentations. The models can be used for in-context modelling and have rudimentary snapping via the Revit point snap function. In the example below you can see that I have linked a bridge pier across from Autodesk Docs that was authored in Autodesk Inventor. This is a great way of integrating models from many other BIM and manufacturing authoring tools. Topography updates Toposurfaces have now been discontinued in this release and the new toposolid tool is now the preferred method to create topography. There have been several improvements with the introduction of toposolids such as the ability to cut the toposolids and also incorporate thickened layers to create raised solid regions.
These can be used to represent basic landscaping and roads. In the example below, a toposolid has been excavated around concrete foundations by cutting the family from the solid. If required, the excavated volume can then be displayed. The second example shows a retaining wall. The toposolid can be cut vertically on the back face of the wall which makes editing the toposolid very simple. If desired, cut and fill can also be calculated with a toposurface by using graded regions. Sheet, Revision and View updates Building on the updates from the previous releases, Autodesk are making working with sheets a little easier. In Revit 2024 we can now move views between sheets and keep alignments and positions. The best feature is being able to add a revision to multiple sheets. Multiple views can now be moved to other sheets either by selecting the views or simply dragging and dropping from the project browser.
Revision clouds can now be scheduled which, again, has been a long-standing request from users. The revision schedule can be created in a similar way to any other schedule.
Templates and Sample Projects Two things that almost always stay the same in a Revit upgrade are templates and sample projects.
This year, we lose some sample projects and gain a new template and sample project. New Imperial Template There is a new multi-discipline template. Previously there were only discipline-specific and systems i.
Due to the settings and loaded families required by specific commands and workflows, some tools in Revit would not work correctly depending on which template you started from. With the new all-discipline template, this problem can be avoided. Figure 5.
The new imperial template supporting all disciplines. New Sample Model There is a new robust set of sample models which can be used to explore Revit features and model organization. It includes seven linked models and contains phasing and design options.
There is even a point cloud file that can be downloaded separately. One slight downside related to this is that the old sample models are no longer included. So, while this new sample model is a great new resource for those learning Revit, I will miss the easy access to the lightweight residential sample model to open quickly for troubleshooting.

Most of the icons have been refreshed in support of a new dark theme option. The project browser is also completely updated and now includes a search option at the top. Figure 8.
Most icons have been refreshed and the project browser is completely updated. Dark Theme Revit 2024 now has a more legitimate dark theme feature. This new feature can be set to follow the operating system setting.
When first used, the canvas area is also set to a dark theme. This can be adjusted back to a light color while still in the dark theme if desired. Figure 9.

Revit Macro Security Macros are now disabled by default for enhanced security, as shown in the Revit Options dialog below. Any individual or company can change these by deployment or manually if desired. Figure 11.
Macros are disabled by default in Revit 2024. Resize All Schedule Rows When a schedule on a sheet is selected, there are now a few options in the Properties Palette to control the row height and rotation on the sheet. Selection of All for Resize Rows makes the row height consistent.

This includes the ability to schedule related information such as the sheet or view name that the cloud is placed on. Figure 13. Revision clouds can now be scheduled.
Open Sheet Directly from View If a view is placed on a sheet, that sheet can now be opened quickly via right-clicking within the view and selecting Open Sheet as shown here. Figure 14. Right-click in a view to open the sheet it is placed on quickly.
Place Multiple Views and Schedules Multiple selected views and schedules can be dragged from the Project Browser onto a sheet.
This could easily cause the C: drive to fill up if you worked on several BIM 360 projects or just one mega project. Solar enhancements When running a solar study, the sun settings are now presented on the ribbon, as shown below. Clicking the Sun Settings button opens the traditional Sun Settings dialog with the same settings.
In addition to project location and true north being set, the Sun Settings define where the sun is within Enscape. New visual style — Textures Revit has a new view style called Textures, which is a cross between shaded and realistic similar to the view style in SketchUp. It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. It is possible to have ambient and sun shadows on in this mode, as shown in the example below ambient shadows are on.
Previously, the only way to see the texture was to turn on Realistic, which is way too slow, and that is what we have Enscape for! The site tools represent the most significant change for architects! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface.
Missing from the ribbon below is the Building Pad command. Instead, users will now create an in-place mass element that can have sloped edges or define a tunnel, and then use the Cut Geometry tool against it and the toposolid. One great thing about this for Enscape users is that slabs and walls must be cut from the toposolid. This means that there will never be grass inside the building coming through a floor slab or coming through a sidewalk again in Enscape.
There are also opportunities to sweep profiles along the surface to create curbs, for example.
Toposurfaces are gone, replaced with Toposolid. Overall, this is excellent news.
However, there are a few quirks with the new site tools that I hope get resolved. There is also a new default template, a fantastic sample model, and UI improvements. Dynamo and the Dynamo Player keep getting better.
Finally, there are dozens of small changes to improve the usability of various tools. This post covers General and Architecture features. Specific MEP and Structure improvements are mentioned, but the complete notes are available on Autodesk blog post.
Toposurface have been killed and replaced by Toposolid. The Subregion tool has been replaced by Sub-Divide. The way you create site elements is completely different.
The following pages are going to cover these significant changes. What if floors and toposurfaces had a baby together? The new toposolid tool works in a very similar way to floors.
First, you need to sketch an extrusion boundary with purple lines. Then, you can modify the Sub Elements in a similar way to Roofs and Floors. Add points at specific heights to create the slopes.
The points contextual menu is a bit different from the standard floors and roofs you are used to. This new menu has actually been available since Revit 2023. When adding a point, you can either pick Along Surface or Absolute Height.

This new feature works like any other system family, such as floor, roof, etc. It is not advisable to do this as it will likely be deleted in the future. As mentioned, Toposolid works like any other system family and can be created out of different layers with thickness and different materials. The new template contains six pre-made Toposolids with varying layers, giving you examples of how to create, roads, grassland, jetty, and lakes. While using the new Toposolid, you can cut this solid with other elements, such as Walls, Floors, etc.
As a result, the graphics inside the view will now show correctly. This method can be more complex and time-consuming, but allows you to create any shape you want. Hopefully, we will get a better tool in the future. You can find the Sun settings in the ribbon on the right side. The settings dialog still looks the same as the earlier Revit versions, a minor improvement has been made to the Time Interval feature, which now offers additional increments. Revit now offers intervals of 15, 30, 45, and 60 seconds, which allows you to analyze shadows with greater accuracy. In addition, you can drag the Sun along its path in Perspective mode instead of using the Orthographic mode.
These models are lightweight and elements can be selected.
Sub-Divisions are placed on top of the toposolid. You can then pick a material and set a thickness in the instance properties.
Sub-Division have a thickness instance parameter. There is another parameter called Inherit Contours. It allows you to decide if you want to see the contours on the subdivision or not.

In Revit 2024: Each toposolid type can have different kinds of topography contours. In the type properties of a toposolid, you need to click on Contour Display. You can decide to have a toposolid type with lots of contours.
However, the contours are not visible when editing the points. And maybe you want a water toposolid without any contours. In this example, the toposolid is cut to accommodate the foundation wall and footing.
The volume of the toposolid accurately reflects the substraction of the these elements. This can be use to create curbs. You cannot use this tool on subdivisions, or on very complex shapes.
In our case, it looked like nothing happened as the rows with larger heights were still the same size as before. A Color Book is a library or book of premade colors that can be quickly added to your material. The new button has replaced the Pantone button on the Color window, but the nice thing is they added all the Pantone colors as Color Books so you will not lose anything. The one thing we do hope they add soon is a search bar in the Color Books window. They do have a Color field but we have found that you have to be pretty specific for it to work. The nice thing about Color Books is that there are some available out there to download and use since they have been around for so long. Search in Project Browser Once you use this new feature you will wonder what took Autodesk so long to add it.
In the Project Browser box, you will see at the top a Search bar. This will allow you to search anything in this property box, incluing all the views, schedules, sheets, families, groups, Revit Links, and basically anything else loaded into the project. The search is super responsive — it will start the search as soon as you start typing and is pretty fast and smooth. Open Sheet Directly from Drawing Area In the last few years, Revit has added more connections between views and sheets. This year they added another one with the Open Sheet command. If you click on that it will open the sheet the view is placed on. You can also do this from the project browser by right-clicking on a view in the Project Browser list and then selecting Open Sheet.
This also works if you select multiple views. Revit also added a nice warning window in case you do select a lot of views that would open up several sheets to give you a chance to rethink how much time you have to wait until all the sheets are open. The feature has icons for positive or negative feedback, intended to help the software better customize the cards shown to you. This feature does not appear to be immediately available at the time of publishing, which may indicate the need for it to gather some usage data.
