In fact, the Bekant proved more than enough for my gaming PC, one or two laptops, peripherals and a heavy 27-inch monitor. I have enough tech on my desk every day for things to get really crowded, and the Bekant has taken everything its way, without things ever feeling chaotic.
The lack of cutouts in the back corners is a bit disappointing, as it increases the number of wires hanging in the middle of the desk, but I managed that well enough to satisfy me with a few neoprene cable mattresses. If you are tall, keep in mind that a smaller desk will provide less room to stretch your legs while sitting. This can also lead to stops and starts as you will often have to readjust your finger with the changing height of the desk, loosening pressure on the keyboard and cutting off movement. It has some commendable qualities, has a relatively good-looking design, comes in a range of colors and finishes to complement your decor, and offers ample space especially in a large format with sufficient maximum payload. As an IKEA product, there are also plenty of showroom products to customize and match the desk.
However, Bekant was let down by a number of very important factors. I really struggle to see how IKEA can justify the price they are charging for this desk. Aside from the most expensive component, the metal frame, as a desk buyer, what did my money get for me?

I was having a really hard time finding a shelf that would allow proper airflow for the NAS and NUC, while still having sides and a back. The rear-facing exhaust fans on the Synology NAS would struggle to move air in an enclosed shelf. Internal Cable Routing I wanted a way to route cables within the shelf and was open to drilling my own holes, but the Bekant already has gaps for running cables to both shelves. Luckily in my office, the shelf sits next to a power outlet, so there are only 2 ethernet cables that leave the base. Velcro cable ties used to prevent cables from hitting the drawer. I made a few custom length ethernet cables to keep the shelf clean of excess cable. A power strip fits nicely underneath the base, keeping power cords out of sight.
It adjusts easily, comes in several finishes and styles, and is big enough to comfortably fit a computer and keyboard arrangement. When we spoke with Ikea, they said interest and sales were better than expected, and at my local store, the corner desk model each variant has its own frame is on back-order for a month or more.
There are a few extras that I skipped on that slightly reduced the price. Another option is an NFC lock for the drawer. I also could see photographers or videographers using the Bekant as a charging station that has 2 levels of battery chargers with proper cable management. Along came Megadesk - an Open Source custom controller which replaces the original controller.
