NHL draft 2017: Top 32 prospects
В третьем раунде свои клубы нашли четверо спортсменов из России, в четвёртом — также четверо, в пятом и шестом — трое, в седьмом — двое. He has an excellent array of shots, with good power and accuracy on his wrist shot, snap shot and slap shot. A sniper, Comtois has a very quick release that can handcuff opposing goaltenders. He also has excellent vision and passing skills. Comtois can extend plays by using his stick handling and puck protection to control the play along the boards. Once teammates get open he can make a pass through the tightest of openings.
Comtois has good size and is not afraid to work along the boards or in front of the net. Comtois is also a very good skater, with great first step quickness and excellent acceleration. As a 16-year-old rookie, he took on heavy responsibility, playing in all situations. He also scored 60 points in 62 games this past season. Tippett is extremely dangerous off the rush. He has excellent speed and acceleration. His ability to change speeds allows him to take defenders wide and drive to the front of the net, where he has the soft hands to finish in tight. If defenders back off to respect his speed, he can use his excellent wrist shot or snap shot and beat goalies with a quick release. Tippett could stand to work on his play making skills.
He can stand to slow things down and hold on to the puck just a little longer before rushing a play. Tippett had 15 goals and 20 points for Mississauga last season. A strong performance, seven points in four games, would lead to him being invited to join the US NTDP late in the season. He scored a point per game. He had another impressive tournament, with nine points in seven games. He is committed to the University of Minnesota in 2017. Mittelstadt has excellent puck handling ability. He can beat defencemen one-on-one with a number of moves, and has the soft hands to stick handle in a phone both. He combines this with excellent speed, and the ability to make cuts on a dime.
Mittlestadt is an excellent play maker who creates passing lanes with his quick puck movement. He also has a good shot. He put up nine goals and 10 points in just five games for Finland. Tolvanen is a pure sniper who scores goals in a variety of different ways. He reads the play extremely well, and uses a quick first step and excellent accleration to allude defenders and get himself open to fire a shot on goal. Tolvanen has an outstanding one-timer, with great power and accuracy.
His game is built for it.
When he gets touches, he makes things happen. The Oilers need more players like him in their supporting cast, not less. I think both of those things can be true, even if I have to acknowledge the bias I have from being lower on Chytil than most over the years. He can skate. He plays hard and fast. You expect a 6-foot-6 defenceman to have a hard shot and to impose himself physically. In a worst-case scenario, he becomes a useful third-pairing defenceman who can contribute at both ends.
In the best-case scenario, he might challenge for the top 10. The potential reward has always outweighed the risk with Hague. Always have. Always will. Did I have a little too much appreciation for it in 2017? Hopefully the injury troubles are behind him and the Flames are happy with this pick twice. Was he a first-round pick?
Does he still have a chance to be an impact top-six player and dynamic power play option? But there were — and are — warts in his game. He lands at No. He can, however, play at the top of the roster with more talented players which is a skill and help out on the power play. Advertisement 19. I would argue Texier has the higher ceiling while Bemstrom has the lower floor. Given the way I normally evaluate players, Texier should probably be ahead of Bemstrom for that reason.
I do think Bemstrom has shown more consistency at the pro level, though, so that gave him a very slight edge. I really liked him in 2017 and I really like him now. But my concern with projecting him going forward is also the same now as it was then. By having him so high, there was a ripple effect on the rest of my board near the top. Yes, I do.

This season we will see whether or not Vilardi can fully recover from the injuries that have plagued his career thus far. He plays a simple but highly effective game, using his slick hands to carry the puck into vantage points where he can beat the goalie himself with or find a teammate with ease. He is a safe bet to be a second-line center, having produced well but not extraordinarily at all levels. He is lethal in the offensive zone, hard to get off the puck and is an elite passer. Similar to Patrick and Vilardi, Glass is another big, talented Canadian centreman whose future is hard to project given his injury history. However, he has shown improvement at the pro level and he is too talented not to make the NHL. When the opposition inevitably closes in on him, he can also make space for himself with his creativity. He is a fluid skater, so he generates a lot of offense on the rush and he is effective on the powerplay. Despite having the fourth-most games played out of this class, the upside of the players above him is higher. Rather than trying to rush the puck every time, he identifies when he can burn the defender and when to make a play. He is also getting better at producing from a standstill and could play on the powerplay in the NHL. He is an elite skater who is incredibly poised with the puck on his stick. The analytics rate him highly due to his efficiency at carrying the puck, but he will need to start using his standout puck skills to create offense to justify this ranking. This season he has thrived in an increased role. Marie Greyhounds, but he still projects as a top-six offensive talent in the NHL. He then exploded the next year and was one of the best players in the league and for Team Canada as they won gold at the World Juniors. His size and skill have turned him into a menace at the AHL level. His average footspeed is the only thing holding him back. His offense has slowed down a bit after turning pro in his draft-year-plus-one season but has been playing tough matchups and killing penalties.
2017 NHL Entry Draft Combine Results
The choice of the respective option was up to each franchise itself. Seven of the 30 franchises opted for the latter option, which thus effectively comprises two less protected players. Of these, in turn, six teams Arizona, Florida, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Jersey and Pittsburgh protected four defenders and four attackers, only the New York Islanders chose five defenders and only three strikers.
