Lego Marvel Minifigs
The detailing on the torso piece is the real draw for this Minifigure. There are plenty of intricate details, paneling, wires, and sections to really look busy. This could look like too much, but they struck the perfect balance, with the result being effective and interesting. With flame printing that runs up his legs, he has a great gunmetal gray body with maroon arms. It was clearly intended for Iron Man to leave his mask on! It features a shocking yellow pauldron that represents the armors yellow paint applications.
The color may be too bright and clean, but it gets the idea across well. The actual suit has arms that end in huge jackhammer-like endings. However, this Minifigure just goes with the yellow pauldrons at the top of regular gray arms. This pauldron piece can be slid onto the neck and sandwiched between the torso and head pieces. The usual vibrant reds are replaced with an extremely dark almost black blue.
This gives the gold printing an extra effective pop!

As already mentioned, 71039 Marvel Studios Series 2 follows on from 71038 which celebrated 100 years of Disney along with a range of other sets throughout this year. This threat to the LEGO Minifigure series has been coming for a while but actually seeing the Minifigures in boxes with the official packaging and branding is very strange.
It has a great-looking triangular Arc reactor printed in the center of the torso piece, and we like that LEGO gave it space to breathe, leaving the detailing towards the bottom of the torso and onto the legs. This Iron Man Minifigure comes complete with the wing accessories that he battles with. A harness goes around his neck and hangs on the back of the torso, and you simply assemble and clip the four arms to the harness. It looks neat and even has a blaster effect to add to the action shots.
One issue is that the wings have stickers that need to be applied to them instead of the details being printed on. Some people might not mind this, while others will take issue with the stickers. Because the wings need to be assembled, put together, and clipped to the backpack section, this Minifigure has a pretty high piece count, with 38 individual pieces needed to construct him. So special is this Minifigure that we got it in not one but two separate sets!
It would have made this Minifigure extra special if they could have printed some tiny infinity stones onto the right hand. Unfortunately, hand printing is rarely ever seen. It really makes the torso piece pop! Similarly, the metallic silver highlights add some depth and definition and make what could be a messy paint job look busy yet clear.
