After a year in domestic confinement, she felt the call of sports and decided to seek out its most original arena: the Panathenaic Stadium, built by the Ancient Greeks in 330 BC as a sporting ground for their beloved games and astute appreciation of movement. Around me, the reference of Greece is everywhere, on every statue. If not home turf, those facts made the Panathenaic Stadium something of a comfort zone for Chiuri, whose collection exercised her knack for real clothes rooted in the bulletproof silhouettes of the ancient world.
The material is skillfully transformed into various garments, from an oxblood belted coatdress with an ostrich feather underskirt to a sleek masculine-feminine evening look comprising a black mini cape paired with a tuxedo waistcoat and pants. The iconic hipline of the Cigale dress undergoes a metamorphosis in the collection, sculpted into a ruby red bustier gown and tamed into a sensual drape on the neckline of a trench-inspired dress. Beige coats with trailing gold thread tapestry motifs, graphic embroidered black tank tops, and matching ivory skirts exude a sophisticated blend of architectural elegance and intricate detailing.
The tailor Aristeidis Tzonevraki created a Book Tote and a Bar Jacket using a unique method through which the items are structured by way of embroidery.
