Also, Gauthier has strong stride length, fully extending his back leg and maximizing the power behind each stride, which also aids his acceleration. However, his knee bend needs work. Gauthier needs to get lower in his stride, bend his knees a bit more. While the power in his stride is solid, thanks to his lower-body strength, it could be better with better knee bend. His top speed also could improve, from really good to great. Gauthier certainly seems like he has solid potential as a skater. But it is a whole lot deeper than that. Gauthier is a dual-threat offensive player, with solid playmaking and goal-scoring abilities. Focusing on his playmaking abilities first, Gauthier is a very balanced passer. He has strong vision and passing accuracy, which he pairs really well.

Cutter Gauthier situation in Philadelphia was nothing new to the NHL
Improvements As with any prospect, there are areas of their game which they may look to improve on to boost their draft stock and likelihood of making it to the next level at some point in their career. Below are a couple of areas in which Gauthier may look to brush up on. Gauthier may look to be a little more selective with where he shoots the puck. He seems to be willing to get the puck on target from just about anywhere, but there are times when his accuracy is off. Somewhat of a similar point to above, Gauthier likes to take risks on the ice, especially when trying to get creative with the puck on his stick in the offensive third of the ice. Gauthier may look to choose the safer play over the riskier play at times, which would not cost his team possession of the puck, while at the same time, prolonging the time they have the puck in the offensive zone. Lastly, Gauthier has shown his shift-to-shift consistency can waver a little bit. Overall Outlook Although Gauthier does have the ability to play both left wing and center, his overall game may be suited more to a left-wing role at the next level.
How did it work out for those two? Well, Konecny played 70 games his rookie season, popped in 11 goals and then went on to score 24 goals in each of the next three seasons during ages 20-22. Meanwhile, Provorov played in all 82 games during that 2016-17 campaign and, with the exception of a brief forced absence during the COVID pandemic, has played in all 532 career games the Flyers have had on their schedule. Suffice to say, when training camp opens in September, there are going to be a lot of eyes trained on Gauthier who registered 37 points in 32 games for BC his freshman year to see if the timeline to a professional contract might be shortened a bit sooner than expected. Back to the outdoors Even though the Flyers at this point are expected to be nothing more than a borderline playoff team, at best, next season, they still have managed to garner an invitation to another outdoor NHL game. This is nothing new for the Flyers. Plus, for this particular game, the location is convenient for both teams and their followers.
