Пик Нью-Джерси Девилз в третьем раунде достался Каролина Харрикейнз в результате обмена 5 марта 2014 года, в результате которого Туомо Рууту в Нью-Йорке Джерси в обмен на Андрей Локтионов и этот кир условно на момент обмена. The following rules applied to player selection for the expansion franchise: The franchise had to select one player from each of the 30 existing franchises. This did not include any additional players that the team would receive from possible transfers if the draft regulations were violated. The franchise had to select at least 14 forwards, nine defenders and three goalkeepers. The selected players in the franchise had to have a value between 60 and 100 percent below that of the previous year, taking into account the salary cap. This is to avoid teams handing over many players with inefficient contracts in order to gain a financial advantage. In addition, players transferred before the draft may only be transferred back to their former team after January 1, 2018.

Русские хоккеисты с драфта НХЛ, которые загубили свои карьеры
Немногие поклонники НХЛ верили, что после этого дедлайна в «Тампе» останутся оба голкипера. Обмен именно Бишопа был наиболее очевиден: истекающий и довольно увесистый контракт, колоссальные проблемы «Лайтнинг» с потолком зарплат, подписание нового соглашения с Андреем Василевским — всё это давало пищу для размышлений относительно вариантов трейда американского стража ворот. И уж точно среди заинтересованных в обмене Бена команд не значились «короли». Казалось, что вратарская позиция клуба не особо нуждалась в усилении: наконец восстановился после травмы первый номер команды Джонатан Куик, а Петр Будай довольно неплохо его подменял на протяжении большей части сезона.
И именно словацкий голкипер последовал в обратном направлении вместе с 19-летним защитником Эриком Черняком, выбранным во втором раунде драфта 2015 года. На момент дедлайна у «Кингс» останется лишь 3,3 млн. И, несомненно, будет интересно посмотреть, как смогут ужиться два топовых голкипера в одной команде.

Strong and skilled with the puck, Kostin can create openings with his stickhandling and 1-on-1 abilities, but must work on his skating and consistency. Tolvanen possesses sharp offensive instincts and a lethal shot, yet there are concerns about how his slight frame and dimensional game will translate to higher levels.
No player fell further in the rankings this season than towering Russian winger Nikita Popugaev. The Moscow native fired 19 goals in his first 25 games with Moose Jaw, however his play tailed off in December and he was dealt a month later to Prince George where he continued to sputter. Popugaev brings great size at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds as well as a strong shooting arsenal. His skating needs to come along though, particularly his footwork and overall agility. But the bigger concern is how badly he wants it - as his work ethic and defensive play regressed to alarming levels over the second half. His smooth skating, subtle skills, and innate feel for the game were on full display throughout. Vaakanainen could turn out to be one of the best players from this draft. Expect the Finns to be high profile at this draft - as they could place up to seven players in the opening round plus another half dozen in the second.
The analytics rate him highly due to his efficiency at carrying the puck, but he will need to start using his standout puck skills to create offense to justify this ranking.
This season he has thrived in an increased role. Marie Greyhounds, but he still projects as a top-six offensive talent in the NHL. He then exploded the next year and was one of the best players in the league and for Team Canada as they won gold at the World Juniors. His size and skill have turned him into a menace at the AHL level. His average footspeed is the only thing holding him back. His offense has slowed down a bit after turning pro in his draft-year-plus-one season but has been playing tough matchups and killing penalties. He moves around very well for a big man, allowing him to break up plays and then join the ensuing rush. His average skating and one-dimensional game have been exposed and the high-end puck skills are yet to shine through. More time in the AHL could be helpful.
He has a good, quick wrist shot and passes the puck well enough, but his lack of foot speed holds him back from being a truly dynamic player. Another player in this class who has struggled with injuries, he missed all of 2018-19 due to a concussion. He played just 40 games in the AHL last year and really blossomed near the end of the season with 11 points in his last 13 games. At six-foot-two, 185-pounds, he could add some weight but has managed without it due to his smooth skating stride and four-way quickness. He already looks like a powerplay anchor-type, but we could very well not have seen the best of Timmins due to the injury problems. He had a decent rookie season in the NHL, scoring 20 points in 56 games, but struggled to keep up with the increased pace of the league. He is most effective from mid-range, with a lethal wrist shot. He can skate and has good hands, but his small stature may hold him back from being more than a secondary scorer. He is an all-round rearguard with average offensive ability who carries his six-foot-four, 216-pound frame around very well.
