Autodesk Revit 2024.1 Build 24.1.0.66 by m0nkrus (MULTi/RUS)
While some MEP mechanical, electrical, and plumbing and structure enhancements are mentioned, the complete details can be found in the Autodesk blog post. It is commonly used by professionals in the construction industry, such as architects, structural engineers, MEP mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers, designers, and builders. The software empowers users to create exact 3D models and analyze them thoroughly. The use of BIM tools has significantly transformed how buildings are designed and constructed; therefore, it is not surprising that most Revit Software users belong to the construction industry. The release of Revit 2024 is quite interesting. However, the software is not evolving slower than the industry would like. Some of the tools should be recreated from scratch instead of getting patched. Nevertheless, Autodesk did a good job overall. This article covers the general and architectural features of Revit 2024. The new design includes redesigned icons for both light and dark themes, which aims to reduce screen glare and enhance the viewing experience.
We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface. This is the exciting part.
Missing from the ribbon below is the building pad command, which is the scary part — I will explain this in the next section. Figure 24. Comparing Revit 2024 site tools to previous versions.
Toposolid Replaces Toposurface Although the toposurface and building pads are no longer available, they are preserved when a model is updated to Revit 2024. Those elements can be modified and copied. You just cannot create new instances as the commands are gone.
Figure 25 shows a toposurface and building pad after an initial model upgrade. Figure 25. Example of a pre-Revit 2024 toposurface and building pad.
To convert a toposurface, select it and follow the steps shown in Figure 26. Step 2 involves selecting a toposurface family type that can have several surface characteristics preset. Figure 26.
The steps to upgrade a toposurface to a toposolid. The toposurface is not deleted as this would delete the building pads which need to be recreated manually. Since there is no building pad tool, Autodesk recommends that an in-place mass set to cut the toposolid be created, as shown in Figure 27.
This provides a lot more options, like tunnels and sloped edges. The biggest challenge is that the workflow is not as intuitive for the average Revit user, in my opinion. Figure 27.
The suggested replacement for the building pad tool is an in-place mass void. Sub-regions are automatically converted to sub-divisions. Figure 28 shows the various type settings for this new element.
Notice two things. First, the toposolid is fundamentally based on the floor element. Second, the contour settings are now set per object type rather than globally.

Then I had to paint a grass material on the surface. The tricky part with painting is that the surface is made up of several facets and required several picks to paint the entire surface. Toposolid — Creation Workflow A toposolid is created similar to a floor element.
You start by sketching the perimeter of the ground to be defined and then finish the creation mode. Next, you select the toposurface and use the Add Points option on the ribbon, adjusting the offset value also on the ribbon. Roads and walkways are created using the Sub-Divide tool found on the ribbon when a toposolid is selected.
This is similar to the sub-region tool where an enclosed area is defined within the larger toposolid perimeter. The result is a solid extrusion which conforms to the ground and can be adjusted vertically. However, the sub-divide height cannot be negative.
The last image in this section shows how a mass void can create a tunnel in the toposolid. This was not possible with a toposurface. When a CAD file is available, a toposolid can be generated from it as in the past.

The Bending Detail is driven by standard Revit Type properties and, as such, you can have multiple types that you can use in different situations. The Bending Details also make use of Revit dimension styles so you will need to setup a couple of dimension styles to support the Bending Detail tools. You can also configure the amount of detail that is displayed within the bending detail. For example, you could simply show the segment length dimensions or recover all the dimensions and angles for each segment as well as hooks and linear dimensions. There are also a few options around the unfolding or offsetting of Bending Details. When you have shapes such as links that overlap it could be confusing when showing lengths and angles of the hooks.
These 3 configurations are shown in the image below using a standard link. Currently, the Bending Details cannot be tagged but I am sure that Autodesk will add this functionality in future releases. The bending details could also become a solution for certain detailing conventions such as tick and tag in sectional views and the display of bars in plan. Bending Details in Schedules The Bending Details can also be used in schedules which is especially useful for non-standard shape codes. It is worth noting that you will only see the shape once the schedule is placed onto a sheet. Again, in many other regions and countries, shape codes are always shown in the schedule regardless. In the example below, Bending Details are shown in the bending schedule with the new auto size option for rows with images. In the above image, the segment names are displayed to reduce the amount of space required but you can also configure the Bending Details specifically for use within schedules.
Here in the UK, it would only be necessary to show the bending sketch for non-standard shapes so it would be useful to see a feature where you could control which shape codes use the new Bending Detail and display on the schedule. Again, this is the first iteration, and I am sure we will see other additions to this new feature in future releases. We will now look at a feature that was released in Revit 2023. Whilst this is an amazingly simple tool it really makes a difference when working with rebar. In the example below we have a rebar set which is configured for the spacing and number of bars. If I add additional bars, they may end up on the wrong end of the rebar set. Another new tool in Revit 2024 allows us to control the alignment of freeform rebar when placing along a path. In previous releases, the rebar would stay aligned to the path, but we can now align the rebar vertically if required.

For those of us who used to work in AutoCAD, not having a dark theme in Revit always took a while to get used to.

Спецификация пометочных облаков Теперь можно создавать спецификацию на пометочные облака — облачка для выделения изменений. В спецификацию можно добавлять как параметры самих облаков, так и параметры из окна «Изменения», свойства видов, листов и сведения о проекте. Если когда-нибудь шаблоны АДСК выйдут для Ревита 2024, то как знать, может, сделаем именно такой вариант внесения изменений. Есть у спецификации минус — подпись, она у меня сейчас сделана в виде параметра с типом данных «Изображение», масштабируется под высоту строки. Поэтому, если делать высоту 5 мм, то изображение становится слишком мелким. В общем, спецификация интересная, нужно изучить подробнее.

Есть три варианта на выбор: Нет — то есть работать, как и раньше, подбирать высоту по высоте и длине текста в ячейке; Все — задать всем строкам минимальную высоту, но если какой-то текст не влез по длине и переносится, то высота строки тоже увеличивается, а изображения масштабируются при изменении ширины столбца; Строки изображения — если в спецификации несколько строк, и в каких-то есть изображения, то строки с изображениями будут не выше указанного значения, остальные — адаптируются по размеру и длине текста. Это БИМ, сударыня. Работа с координационными моделями Так называют в справке модели Нэвисворкса, подгруженные в Ревит. Теперь можно включить точки привязки к элементам этих моделей и ловить их на плоских видах и на 3Д. Кроме того, при выделении элемента в такой модели, можно увидеть свойства элемента, но только для той, что подгружена из облака.
Динамо 2. Подробно останавливаться не буду, не работал с Динамо в 2023 Ревите, сравнить будет сложно. Визуально вроде не особо поменялось. Взаимодействие с видами и листами Теперь можно выделить в диспетчере несколько видов и спецификаций и сразу все перетащить на лист. Ревит их сам раскидает, потом нужно будет руками поправить и готово. Если вид размещён на листе, то можно нажать по нему правой кнопкой мыши в диспетчере и выбрать команду «Открыть лист» — Ревит откроет лист с этим видом.

The ability to edit the fields directly in the schedule will also speed up the workflow. This was mainly because it needed more options and capabilities in other system families. However, with the release of Revit 2024, a new feature called Toposolids, which harnesses all the capabilities of a system family, has been introduced. Toposolids can now have layers with thickness and materials similar to other system families. Currently, voids can be used to cut out sections of Toposolids. However, a more efficient tool is expected to be developed to handle cuts in Toposolids. Families can now be hosted on Toposolids, including floor-based families and railings, which can be helpful in various projects. Our team is eagerly waiting for this feature to be fully developed. By holding down the CTRL key, choose the necessary views, including model views, schedules, legends, and drafting views, then drag them onto a sheet. Alternatively, utilize the Add Views to Sheet tool in the View ribbon tab, select multiple views, click OK, and promptly place them on the sheet.

Сортировка параметров проекта в свойствах Теперь параметры проекта сортируются в алфавитно-цифровом порядке в диалогах свойств экземпляра и типа. Параметры семейств не изменились по сравнению с предыдущим поведением. Архитектурная дисциплина Архитектурная дисциплина имеет несколько новых возможностей и порадует многих архитекторов и дизайнеров. Стиль представления «Текстуры» В Revit появился новый стиль представления под названием "Текстуры".
Я был в бета-группе пользователей этого стиля. Он представляет собой нечто среднее между затененным и реалистичным.
Для этого воспользуемся стандартной функцией Брандмауэра Windows. Шаблоны семейств Они снова не устанавливаются вместе с Ревитом. Английские шаблоны — да, русские — нет. Где брать, пока не нашёл. Новинки для инженеров Толщина стенки труб в Ревит 2024 Толщина стенки труб в Ревит 2024 Завезли новый параметр для труб с их толщиной стенки. Не сказать, что супер полезно, хотя в целом удобно. Скрытие изоляции вместе с трубой или воздуховодом Если выделить воздуховод или трубу с изоляцией и скрыть воздуховод или трубу, то вместе с ними скроется и их изоляция. Скорее это удобно, чем излишне. Обычно новички сталкиваются с проблемой, что трубу скрыли фильтром, а на 3Д-виде какая-то как будто труба осталась, выделить нельзя, непонятно, что это. Теперь такого не будет, скрыли основу — скрывается и изоляция. Ориентация аннотаций воздухораспределителей В семейства воздухораспределителей добавили галочку «Сохранять ориентацию аннотаций». Ранее её добавляли в другие категории, теперь дело и до решёток дошло. Галочка позволяет отображать на плане вложенное семейство аннотаций, даже если воздухораспределитель установлен не параллельно уровню. В России им не пользуются, так что пригодится ли категория — непонятно. Кроме того, заметил ещё в 2023 Ревите категорию «Виброизоляторы», её видно только при создании параметра с типоразмером семейства, в других окнах не заметил. Та же ерунда с категорией «Обозначения подъемов и опусков». Фильтрация по отметкам труб, воздуховодов, лотков и коробов 36 Теперь при создании фильтра для труб, воздуховодов, лотков и коробов можно выбирать кучу всяких отметок, в том числе с учётом изоляции. Обновление формулы Халанда для воздуховодов Просто цитата из справки: «Обновлена формула Халанда для расчета потери давления в прямом сегменте воздуховода. Теперь вместо эквивалентного диаметра используется гидравлический диаметр». Особо добавить нечего. Модель энергопотребления с учётом скрытых элементов Если кто-то этим вдруг пользовался, то теперь можно сначала настроить видимость только тех элементов, которые нужны рассчитывать, а уже потом считать. Ну чисто теоретически тогда можно скрывать ненужные стены и оставлять только один «слой» из стен, предварительно задав ему термическое сопротивление всей стены, и так считать теплопотери. Данные расчёты в Ревите скорее мёртвы, чем приносят пользу, но мало ли кому пригождается. Расскажите о своём опыте в комментариях. Это все новинки, которые выделил для статьи. Достаточно много улучшений и исправлений сделали для работы с IFC, семействами, размерами окошек.

Instead, Autodesk recommends using the Massing tool to create void geometry. These tools are more complex and potentially more confusing than building pads, but they allow you to create more complex shapes. In this example, we create a void shape for a parking driveway. You could also use the model in-place tool, but uh... Overall, this is probably for the best... In Revit 2024: Each toposolid type can have different kinds of topography contours.
In the type properties of a toposolid, you need to click on Contour Display. You can decide to have a toposolid type with lots of contours. However, the contours are not visible when editing the points. And maybe you want a water toposolid without any contours. In this example, the toposolid is cut to accommodate the foundation wall and footing.
The volume of the toposolid accurately reflects the substraction of the these elements. This can be use to create curbs. You cannot use this tool on subdivisions, or on very complex shapes. If someone from Autodesk is reading: please fix this! It would be great to place the slab edges on sub-division.
Meanwhile, you can use the railings tool to create curbs. Since toposolids are similar to floors, you can switch the composition entirely and have lakes, concrete pads, and other site components while keeping the original topography points. Be careful, though. You can use them on the new toposolid category.
In addition to project location and true north being set, the Sun Settings define where the sun is within Enscape. New visual style — Textures Revit has a new view style called Textures, which is a cross between shaded and realistic similar to the view style in SketchUp. It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. It is possible to have ambient and sun shadows on in this mode, as shown in the example below ambient shadows are on.
Previously, the only way to see the texture was to turn on Realistic, which is way too slow, and that is what we have Enscape for! The site tools represent the most significant change for architects! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface. Missing from the ribbon below is the Building Pad command. Instead, users will now create an in-place mass element that can have sloped edges or define a tunnel, and then use the Cut Geometry tool against it and the toposolid. One great thing about this for Enscape users is that slabs and walls must be cut from the toposolid. This means that there will never be grass inside the building coming through a floor slab or coming through a sidewalk again in Enscape.
There are also opportunities to sweep profiles along the surface to create curbs, for example. Here is an in-place mass with a sloped edge. The old building pad option only resulted in vertical edges. Here is an in-place mass creating a tunnel within the toposolid.
From here you can preview usage data and the most used commands, and find out how to optimize workflows. The icons look more modern. New sample project imperial only. Snowdon Towers, a mixed-use building model that you can use as an example and learning resource.
The sample project includes seven Revit files architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, existing facades, site and context. You can learn about scheduling, documentation, Scan-to-BIM for historic preservation, and multi-disciplinary design coordination. This complex sample model replaced a house that was a sample model for a very long time. New Multi-discipline template imperial and metric. Single template file that replaces templates from previous versions. This improved template includes Views and Sheets set for multiple disciplines and coordination, legend views with symbols and text styles. Improved Project Browser. The Project Browser is modernized and the Search bar is added.
Resizable dialogs. Dialog windows can be resized. Project parameters are sorted alphabetically. You can add prefix to the parameter name to sort it as you want. In Revit 2023, the project parameters are sorted chronologically. Improved visualization Improved integration with Twinmotion. Auto Sync with Twinmotion provides a live link between Revit and Twinmotion. New visual style: Textures.
This visual style displays material textures consistently, without lighting effects. Using this visual style you can easily test textures prior to rendering. These two commands, from the right-click menu, are related to views.
Sorting of Project Parameters in Properties Project parameters are now sorted alphanumerically in the instance and type properties dialogs. Family parameters are unchanged from previous behavior. Architectural The architectural discipline has several new features and will make a lot of architects and designers happy. Of course, we will all have wishlist items not found in the update.

Here is an example of a much needed enhancement to the Bind Revit Link Revit Idea that would maintain phases — most do not realize that all phase settings are lost when you bind a Revit link until they need to do it! Textures View Style Revit has a new view style called Textures. I was in the beta user group for this one. It is a cross between shaded and realistic. It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. It is possible to have ambient and sun shadows on in this mode as shown in the examples below.

Sun settings on ribbon When running a solar study, the sun settings are now presented on the ribbon as shown below.
Clicking the sun setting button opens the traditional sun settings dialog with the same settings. Another enhancement includes the ability to select much shorter time increment options. Figure 22. Site tools Looking at the massing and site tab below, you will notice a lot has changed.
The site tools represent the most significant change in Revit 2024 for architects, which is both exciting and a little scary! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface. This is the exciting part. Missing from the ribbon below is the building pad command, which is the scary part — I will explain this in the next section. Figure 24. Comparing Revit 2024 site tools to previous versions.
Toposolid Replaces Toposurface Although the toposurface and building pads are no longer available, they are preserved when a model is updated to Revit 2024. Those elements can be modified and copied. You just cannot create new instances as the commands are gone. Figure 25 shows a toposurface and building pad after an initial model upgrade. Figure 25. Example of a pre-Revit 2024 toposurface and building pad. To convert a toposurface, select it and follow the steps shown in Figure 26.
Step 2 involves selecting a toposurface family type that can have several surface characteristics preset. Figure 26. The steps to upgrade a toposurface to a toposolid. The toposurface is not deleted as this would delete the building pads which need to be recreated manually. Since there is no building pad tool, Autodesk recommends that an in-place mass set to cut the toposolid be created, as shown in Figure 27. This provides a lot more options, like tunnels and sloped edges. The biggest challenge is that the workflow is not as intuitive for the average Revit user, in my opinion.
